Power Vision FAQs
What is the Power Vision?
The Power Vision is a new flash tuning solution that can meet the needs of any Delphi
ECM equipped Fuel Injected Harley-Davidson. Whether you are just looking to improve
the performance and fuel economy of your completely stock motorcycle, or you are
running an all out drag bike the Power Vision is the most flexible and powerful
flash tuner in the world. The Power Vision uses reflash technology to change the
parameters inside the stock ECM (Engine Control Module) that affects the way the
engine will run. It can be as simple as using one of Dynojet’s pre-configured calibrations,
or you can create a custom tune using the WinPV software.
What vehicles are the Dynojet Power Vision compatible with?
The Power Vision is intended for Harley-Davidson Fuel Injected Motorcycles with
a Delphi ECM. This includes the 2001-Present Softails, 2002-Present Touring, 2002-Present
V-Rod, 2004-Present Dyna and 2007-Present Sportsters. The Power Vision offers the
latest flash tuning technology, data logging, and other industry exclusive features
for today’s high performance EFI tuning market.
What do I gain?
The Power Vision will deliver a calibration (tune) to your Harley’s ECM that contains
the proper data for optimized performance and peak efficiency throughout the operation
range. You can mount the Power Vision on your bike and display the J1850 data (stuff
like knock, engine temp, spark advance, inlet air temp, etc) on one of many gauge
screens, and each gauge has a user configurable alarm to warm you in the event that
a parameter is nearing a potentially unsafe value. If you have a Dynojet Wide Band
2 or Auto Tune system, you can simply plug it in and add insightful wide band data
to the channel list. Power Vision also allows you to log the data in the event you’d
like to analyze this vital information after your ride is complete. You also have
the ability to check and clear ECM DTC’s (diagnostic trouble codes), and reset adaptive
learning.
Do I need a computer?
No, a computer will not be needed to load one of the pre-configured calibrations,
or a copy of the original calibration into your motorcycle. You can even edit the
tune directly on the device without touching a computer. The list of available parameters
to edit directly on the Power Vision is limited, but it’s extremely handy for in-field
calibration changes. If you want to make adjustments to the calibration beyond what
can be done directly on the Power Vision, or if you are an experienced tuner looking
to maximize the effectiveness of your tunes, then you will need a computer with
Microsoft Windows operating system (XP, Vista, or 7) in order to use the WinPV tuning
application (which is included free).
Where do I get tunes?
There are three types of tunes that you can deliver to your bike: pre-configured
tunes (loaded on the device from Dynojet), custom tunes (loaded or emailed to you
by a custom tuner), or you can use a copy of your original (The tune file that is
saved to the Power Vision when married to the ECM) tune to tweak. The Power Vision
will be pre-loaded with a large selection of pre-configured calibrations for bikes
with basic upgrades (intake and exhaust), as well as tunes for bikes with modified
engines (increased displacement, cams, head work, etc). As new calibrations are
developed, they will be automatically uploaded to the Power Vision through the update
client feature of the WinPV software……Just plug in the USB cable and select “Update
Client”, choose the update, and we do the rest. The Power Vision holds up to 6 tunes
(any combination of the 3 types) for you to choose from at your convenience, and
these can be replaced as many times as you like with updated tunes.
What if there isn’t a tune for my bike?
Dynojet works around the clock building calibrations (tunes) for different combinations.
If we don’t have a tune that a good fit for your bike; you still have options.
- 1. Find an Authorized Power Vision Tuning Center. Power Vision Tuning Centers have
been trained by Dynojet and use the latest in dynamometer technology, Air-Fuel systems,
and tuning techniques to build safe, powerful tunes.
- 2. Tune the bike yourself using the Auto Tune module and Log Tuner software.
- 3. Obtain a Power Commander Map that most closely matches your combination, and
import that map into your stock, or original calibration (only available for non-electronic
throttle bikes).
What is the Power Vision Log Tuner software and how does it work?
Log Tuner is an easy to use program developed by Dynojet to take data logs from
your Power Vision and generate a tune specifically for your bike. You don't need
to have a vast understanding of the Harley EFI system to use Log Tuner; we’ve made
tuning your bike easier than ever with sem-automated fuel and spark advance corrections.
Log Tuner can process data generated from the vehicle’s ECM and stock sensors (Auto
Tune Basic – no extra kits or parts required), or for the best results and the ability
to tune like a pro, you can add a Dynojet Auto Tune kit. The Auto Tune kit will
provide data that will allow you to tune ALL the operating ranges of your bike,
from idle and cruise, to higher loads and wide open throttle (Auto Tune Pro).
If I want to use the Auto Tune Pro method, what do I need to buy besides the Power
Vision?
The kits you need are technically the same as the AT-100 that's used with our popular
Power Commander, but these new Power Vision specific kits include a longer CAN cable
to connect the Auto Tune to the Power Vision, and also a Y-splitter to make power
/ communication a plug-n-play affair.
You’ll need one of these kits:
- AT-110 AUTOTUNE,HD-J1850,PWRVSN
- AT-110B AUTOTUNE,HD-J1850,PWRVSN,BUNGS
- AT-120 AUTOTUNE,HD-CAN,PWRVSN
- AT-120B AUTOTUNE,HD-CAN,PWRVSN,BUNGS
How does the Power Vision connect to my computer?
The Power Vision connects to your computer using the included, standard USB to Mini
USB cable.
How many motorcycles can I use the Power Vision on?
The Power Vision will only be able to tune one motorcycle (flash it as many times
as you like). It can be connected to other motorcycles to monitor / log data, check
and clear DTC’s (diagnostic trouble codes), and reset adaptive learning.
