Tune Database 0.0.9.9 is now posted and live. Ensure you have the latest tunes for your Harley by running the PV Update Client. Look for the Start icon in the bottom left corner of your computer screen and then click on it with your mouse. Go to > Programs > Power Vision > PV Update Client. When the PV Update application has launched, just highlight “PV Tune Database” under the Product column, and then select “Download and Install Updates”.
This is also a good time to ensure you other Power Vision applications and files are up to date. You’ll notice two other columns that say “installed version” and the “latest version”, and if they don’t match, it’s time to update those as well.
This Tune Database adds “Dynojet Pre-configured Tunes” for the following bikes:
2006 Softail
2006 Dyna
2010 – 2012 CVO Touring
2012 Dyna (96ci engines)
2012 V-Rod
You can always check to see what tunes are available for your bike here:
http://www.dynojet.com/PowerVision/PowerVisionMapsTunesDownloads.aspx
The tune files on the website are identical to those available via the Tune Database that gets installed to the Power Vision’s memory (except in those cases the web guys are a few minutes / hours / days behind me J).
Also, please be aware that the Tune Database includes more than just tunes. In includes instructions for ECM support, Diagnostic Trouble Code definitions, and other important features. ALWAYS use the latest files available via the PV Update Client.
|
We’re making every effort to ensure that we have a tune for popular modifications for all years / models, but on earlier bikes (pre-’06) you may find there is a very limited selection or no tunes at all.
- Note: You should be aware that the tunes available on the website (http://www.dynojet.com/PowerVision/PowerVisionMapsTunesDownloads.aspx) are the EXACT same tunes that are available on the Power Vision itself under “Program Vehicle > Dynojet Pre-Configured Tunes”. If you Power Vision is up to date (use the Update Client), then you’ll have all the same tunes that are listed on the website.
Can’t find a tune on the Power Vision for your bike? There are a few options:
- If you don’t find an exact match, then look for similar combinations that will be a close match. For example, if you boil it down, there are really only a few combinations:
- Stock Improved – completely stock bike with no aftermarket parts fitted
- Air Cleaner / Slip-on
- Air Cleaner / Full Exhaust System
- Air Cleaner / Full Exhaust System / Cam
- Air Cleaner / Full Exhaust System / Cam / Increased Displacement
The Power Vision calibration ID’s tell the story, besides the full description that’s available on the website or on the Power Visions display. For example, the 7th, 8th, 9th, and 10th digit give you an indication of the “Tune Level”. Find a Tune Level that’s closest to your combination, read the description, and then chose the closest match.

- 10T096002301.pvt indicates that this is an “Air Cleaner / Slip-on” tune
- 10T096002401.pvt indicates that this is an “Air Cleaner / Full Exhaust System” tune
- 10T096245601.pvt indicates that this is an “Air Cleaner / Full Exhaust System / Cam / Increased Displacement ” tune
- You can always use a “Copy of Original” function under “Program Vehicle > Load Copy”. This will allow you to save a copy of the tune that was in the ECM when the Power Vision locked to your bike. From there you can open this tune in WinPV and edit the tune to meet your needs. You can edit the fuel tables, spark tables, VE tables, idle, and many other parameters. To ensure you get full access to the tune, be sure to set WinPV in “Pro Mode”, you can do so by going to “Set Up > Options > User Level” and selecting this option.
- If you need a helping hand and wish to start tuning using the “Copy of Original” function, you can use Log Tuner in order to correct the VE tables in your tune. This can be done with the Basic method, which uses your factory narrowband o2 senors, or better yet, the Pro method which uses the Dynojet AutoTune system to accurately and completely correct your VE tables.
- On earlier bikes, especially those without closed loop fuel control, the PC Map Import feature works quite well. The PC Map Import feature allows you to take advantage of over 1000 maps that are available for certain mods on Harley-Davidson Motorcycles. Using the process described in #1 from above (Copy of Original) as the “base tune” you can actually import a Power Commander map directly into your Copy of Original and end up with a custom tune for your combination of parts.
- Email PVtech@dynojet.com and we’ll be able to assist you with any of these options, or even create a custom tune for you. Your email should include the original back up tune, and to acquire that just follow these steps:
Note: if you’ve already locked the Power Vision to your bike’s ECM and the original tune has been backed up on the Power Vision (which is automatic), and you’ve already attached your Power Vision to your computer and run WinPV, the original backup should already be on your computer here >> C:\ My Documents\Power Vision\Original Tunes. If you have NOT locked your Power Vision to an ECM, or if the original backup is NOT in the default location, then follow the steps below!
- Plug in the PV to the bike’s diagnostic port / connector
- Turn the bike to the on position (key on, kill switch to “on”, engine off)
- Go to “Vehicle Tools” on the Power Vision after it boots up
- Select “Read ECM”
- Let the process complete, and then remove the PV from the bike.
- Launch WinPV
- Go to “Get ECM Data” on the Tool Bar
- Select the stock calibration, it should be something like this “08-HHH-JFFTZNK-8282206b.stk”
- Save that file locally on your PC
- Email that files to PVtech@dynojet.com

FAQ’s
Question: OK, so if I trade in my bike for new model, then all I need to do is purchase and acquire a PV-UL1?
Answer: Correct, when a PV-UL1 is applied to a Power Vision, all user files are deleted and the device will unlock from the previous ECM. At that point the Power Vision is unlocked and ready to be used (locked to) your new bike’s ECM.
Question: Once a Tune License is applied to the Power Vision, does it remember the bike forever? For instance, if I apply a Tune License to a Power Vision for a 2010 Road King, tune it, and then apply a license for a 2009 Dyna, can I then go right back to the Road King and tune it?
Answer: No, you’ll need to use WinPV to apply the License to the Power Vision for the bike you wish to tune. The Power Vision doesn’t “remember”, or retain licenses files from previous bikes once you apply a new Tune License.
Question: Can I purchase more than 2 Tune Licenses for the same Power Vision? My wife has a Harley, and so does my brother-in-law and I’d like to tweak their tune.
Answer: Yes! There is no limit to how many Tune Licenses you can buy and use with your Power Vision. You can tune each bike as many times as you’d like with no restrictions or limitations.
Question: What if my ECM fails and I need it replaced? If my Power Vision is locked to my old “broken” ECM, then how can it be used on my new ECM?
Answer: If you submit a copy of the service order / invoice from the dealer that clearly states the ECM had failed and was replaced, then there’s no charge for the Unlock License (PV-UL2)
Question: If I’m out on the road and I have a Tune License for my bike, and my wife’s bike, can the Power Vision flash either bike I chose?
Answer: No, you’ll only be able to flash the bike that is consistent with the Tune License that’s currently loaded to the Power Vision. At this point, the Power Vision can only manage one Tune License at a time, but you use your computer and WinPV to load a Tune License the Power Vision they were issued for at any time.

The Dynojet Power Vision now supports ALL 2012 H-D models, including the ’12 Dyna and Softail.
Power Vision, the world’s best flash tuning system for H-D motorcycles, supports all 2001 / 2002 – to -current 2012 models including the new ’12 Dyna and Softail Models!
If you’ve been following along, you’d know the ’12 Dyna and Softail use a new ECM with CAN-bus communication broadcasting on the HD-LAN. This ECM is new, and different than the two CAN-bus ECM’s used on last years Softail, and Softail CVO. After months of testing with the new ECM and calibration that’s buried inside it, we’re excited to unlock the potential of these bikes.
Not to leave the V-Rod guys hanging, this update also includes support for the new “177 Software Level” calibrations that are present in the 2012 V-Rod’s.
All you need to do is use the update client to update your Power Vision to the latest Tune / Config Database and firmware, PV_TUNEDB-0.0.9.7.pvu and PV_FIRMWARE-1.0.7-971.pvu respectively.
This Tune / Config Database does include new tune files for many models, including the ’12 Dyna and Softail. They are available via the update client within the Tune / Config Database, and will be posted on the Power Vision website soon (the tune files are consistent between the tune database and the website).
Not sure which part number supports which model?

Dynojet’s mobile dynamometer and support center was on-site at the annual motorcycle rally in Sturgis South Dakota. We love measuring and making power, it’s in our DNA, and this year there was a particular 2010 Fatboy Lo that we wanted to show off.
Touting a Sean Ray Turbo System with stock 96 Ci pistons, CNC ported heads, SE cams, and 20 psi of boost on race gas this bike is capable of 250+ rwhp!! The long block is all stock and this bike isn’t just a dyno queen, it’s designed and built to be ridden…..hard. The best part is that it’s seamlessly smooth, pulls like a freight train, and utilizes the stock ECM safeguards like knock protection and temp vs spark advance compensation. At the event, the bike was run in “street trim” and burning pump gas to the tune of 140 rwhp. Pretty nice for a fairly stock H-D 96ci engine!! Oh yeah, most importantly the EMS system is a stock Delphi ECM with a Power Vision flash, Power Commander 5-PTi with integrated 3 bar TMAP sensor, and custom high flow Delphi fuel injectors.

If your ECM fails to unlock, then one of the potential reasons is that your Tune / Configuration Database may be out of date. We recently added support ECM p/n 32534-11 which is a new service ECM for most “drive by cable” J1850 Harley-Davidson motorcycles.
The update is included in 0.0.9.4 Tune / Config Database update.
Remember to always update all three major components of the Power Vision Software Suite:
- WinPV
- Firmware
- Tune / Config Database*
* the Tune / Config Database is more than just tunes, it also contains various instructions to make your Power Vision work correctly. Don’t get in the habit of ignoring the Tune / Config Database when you use the Power Vision Automatic Update Client to download and install the latest versions.
